A Newport resident has joined the team at one of the town’s best-known companies at its offices on the High Street.
Maddie Ball is a former Burton Borough School pupil and she has now taken her first step towards a career in the insurance industry with Henshalls Insurance Brokers.
She has been appointed as a trainee account handler in the business insurance team and will work closely with the experienced staff to develop her skills.
“I decided to apply for the role as Henshalls has a great reputation locally for nurturing and supporting their staff, and for encouraging them to continuously develop their skills to help build a career,” said Maddie.
“Previously I was working in the automotive industry in a quality control role, which involved attending trade shows all over the UK and which required a focused and organised approach to fully understand the importance of good quality control procedures.
“I’m looking forward to starting my new career in insurance and everyone has made me feel so welcome already that I can’t wait to begin my training.”
Henshalls director Mark Freeman said it was great to see another local person joining the team in the town where they lived and grew up.
“We have been at the heart of Newport for over 50 years and we employ many local people who are proud of their local connections.
“We’re dedicated to giving people opportunities to build a career here at Henshalls, and we work with many schools across Newport including Haberdashers Adams, Burton Borough, and Newport C of E Junior School – as well as offering a regular programme of work placements to the secondary school students.
“To see Maddie taking her very first steps on the insurance career ladder is an exciting time for both her and us, and we’re keen to offer her all the support she needs to achieve her aim of becoming a qualified account handler.”
