Are you sitting comfortably?
Of course that will only mean something to those of us of a certain age!
So for everyone else out there, what I mean is, I’m going to tell you a story.
Once upon a time there was a happy couple the husband had been a Henshalls client for a considerable time, and the wife was insured by a national High Street broker.
Everything was fine until the wife was involved in a road traffic collision involving her brand new car and another prestige vehicle.
She rang her broker to report the accident, but here’s where our story takes a dark and sinister turn.
The insurer turned into the Big Bad Wolf of the tale they refused to pay out when they found the wife had failed to disclose the points her husband had on his licence.
So she was facing the real risk that she’d have to foot the bill for all the repair costs and any personal injury claims, and even worse, the Big Bad Wolf cancelled her policy which meant she’d have difficulty getting cover in the future.
And not only was she facing the wrath of the Wolf, she was dealing with his evil henchman too her own broker.
They gave her no help or advice, despite the fact she’d been a loyal client for over 12 years.
But who’s this coming over the hill? Cue the arrival of a Knight in Shining Armour! That’s me by the way!
I waded into the breach on my trusty white stallion and arranged immediate cover with a new insurer at a sensible cost.
Then I put my best peacekeeper’s hat on and negotiated with the insurer who had cancelled her cover to get them to reinstate it, and ultimately settle the claim for her.
And they all lived happily ever after
The moral of our tale? Make sure you give full details of any accidents or convictions when you’re arranging or renewing insurance as this trusty Knight can’t always be there to ride to the rescue.
