Getting hitched without a hitch

Summer is always the busiest time of year for weddings, but Shropshire couples planning to tie the knot could be taking unnecessary risks with their big day.
That’s the warning from Dave Williams, of Henshalls insurance brokers in Newport and Shrewsbury.
“Clearly it would be madness to spend £10,000 on a holiday and not take out insurance in case anything goes wrong.
“And yet, how many couples spend more than that on the most important day of their lives and don’t take out insurance protection?
Dave said there were all kinds of risks surrounding a wedding and although many were rare, they could be disastrous.
“What if the groom breaks his leg? The wedding dress gets damaged or the best man loses the rings?
“These may sound like storylines from the latest TV soaps, but things can go wrong and sometimes during the stressful months of wedding preparations, it’s good to have peace of mind that your hard work won’t go to waste.
Dave said wedding insurance offered cover for all kinds of circumstances including : cancelling the whole event due to reasons beyond your control such as illness in the wedding party; supplier failure in case the venue or photographer goes bankrupt; and theft of or damage to important items like the rings and wedding cake.
“Insurance cover is available for all types of weddings and civil ceremonies, and it’s something that could really help save the day if things sadly don’t go according to plan.
