New Year, New Start? Or Business as Usual?

How are your New Year Resolutions going then?

Given up on that diet? Caved in on your Dry January challenge? Visited the gym once and that’s once too often?

I know, the New Year seems to be all about what you’ve given up and what you’re depriving yourself of, which doesn’t seem to be very positive to me!

So in true Henshalls style, we’re bucking the trend! No giving up on things here in the world of insurance – we are in fact taking on even more work than ever before!

2016 resolutions written on a notepad next to a coffee and glassesMy feet don’t seem to have touched the ground since January 1st, and there’s no sign of things easing up as we hurtle into February either.

One of the biggest changes in our Newport and Shrewsbury offices is the major investment we’ve made in new technology.

We’ve installed new software that will enable both existing and new clients to request online insurance quotations day and night – imagine that! 24-hour access to insurance cover!

We’re extremely proud to be the only broker in the county to offer such a flexible service, but of course, such flexibility doesn’t come without a lot of hard work and commitment behind the scenes.

Whether it’s liaising with software suppliers, or working with tech-savvy experts who bamboozle me with terms that I don’t understand(!), or actually getting to grips with the nitty-gritty of the software itself, I don’t seem to have paused for breath!

And now there’s the small matter of making sure our entire team has the in-depth training they need to ensure the whole process runs smoothly before the system goes “live” in the Spring! Phew – roll on Easter!

It’s not just technology matters that have kept me busy either.

At this time of year, at Henshalls we always like to take a closer look at what’s happening in the community around us, and choose several local organisations who we believe we could help in terms of donations and time.

This year we’re working closely with a whole host of groups – including Newport Rugby Club, Newport Cricket Club, Mike Barton Tennis Coaching, and the Newport Cottage Care Centre.

So if you see me charging around Newport High Street in a blur, you’ll understand why! All this hard work is certainly helping to keep me fit – who needs a New Year gym membership??
